Kaspersky Lab has signed an agreement with mobile chip giant Qualcomm Technologies to preload its mobile security solutions in Android devices powered by Snapdragon processors.
The security solutions provider said in a press statement that it will be offering special terms to those manufacturing or have manufactured Snapdragon-enabled mobile devices or tablets running on Android.
However, the statement did not disclose details of the special terms.
The move will give Kaspersky a jump on its competitors, as customers buying Android devices with the Snapdragon processor will get to enjoy Kaspersky’s security solution first and may not look for other options.
Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are in over 770 commercially available or announced products, with another 550 product designs in the pipeline from 70 over device makers.
In his statement after the following the agreement, Eugene Kaspersky, chairman and CEO Kaspersky Lab said: “In Kaspersky Lab, we have a solid number of global companies we work with, and Qualcomm Technologies will be one of the most important among them."
"We are looking forward to providing solutions to a wide range of device manufacturers, who are designing and/or building Snapdragon-enabled mobile devices or tablets running on Android.” he added.
Currently Kaspersky Lab has more than 80 global partners and technology agreements with companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Cisco, Juniper Networks, Alcatel Lucent, Blue Coat, Check Point, D-Link, GFI, Gwava, Netgear, SonicWALL RSA, ZyXel, Alt-N, Parallels, Lenovo and Facebook.
