TaxiMonger calls for feedback from cabbies, plans open day

KUALA LUMPUR: The developer of taxi booking and reviewing tool TaxiMonger hopes to attract at least 5,000 taxi drivers to turn up at its “Open Day for Taxi Drivers of Klang Valley” event, where it wants to hear their opinions on the mobile app.

TaxiMonger also wants to promote its service of a virtual taxi callcentre that handles bookings and reviews online, as well as demonstrate how the app can help the drivers increase their daily takings.

The Open Day will be on June 28 at Wisma Sejarah, Kuala Lumpur, from 9am to 6pm.

Chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission (Spad), Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, will be officiating at the event.

At the open day, taxi drivers will also be able to enjoy huge savings through attractive Android phone packages and data plans from TaxiMonger’s telco partner when they register for the service. TaxiMonger declined to name its telco partner at this time.

Taxi drivers will have to pay a monthly subscription fee of RM50 to TaxiMonger and RM38 per month for a 1.5GB data plan from the telco. TaxiMonger said the total of RM88 a month is cheaper than what the drivers would pay to traditional radio callcentres.

Besides the upfront purchase of an Android phone, interested taxi drivers would have to place a security deposit of RM100 when registering with TaxiMonger.

Since the launch of the service in April, TaxiMonger has signed up 1,200 customers for its booking service.

Forty-six drivers from Saujana Teksi Bhd, S.M. Cab Sdn Bhd, Zalnas Limousine Sdn Bhd and Warisan Astana Sdn Bhd had participated as pilot project partners. These companies are continuing to support TaxiMonger in its commercialisation drive.

TaxiMonger aims to secure at least 5,000 taxi drivers under its network by Dec 31.

Also, it plans to integrate mobile application features into its taxi booking app and this will be launched at Open Day., a sister company of TaxiMonger, offers a mobile personal security app that works on smartphones.
