WASHINGTON: Google Inc won government clearance with restrictions for its US$700mil (RM2.24bil) purchase of airline fare tracker ITA Software in a deal that will give the Internet search giant a key role in online travel.
Google promises to give consumers more choices and better ways to search for plane tickets as it incorporates ITA technology, which powers the reservation systems of most major US airlines and many popular online fare-comparison services, including Kayak, TripAdvisor and Hotwire.
