KUALA LUMPUR: IF you are looking for a notebook that’s both hardy and portable, Lenovo’s ThinkPad Edge 11 may just fit the bill.
The Edge, which actually has rounded corners, comes in two colours: Matte black and glossy red. Roughly the size of a paperback book, it measures just 1.1in thick and weighs 1.3kg with a 3 cell battery, making it light enough to carry almost everywhere.
It has a full-size keyboard for typing comfortably and a 11.6in screen with a native resolution of 1,366 x 768-pixels. Despite its small size, the Edge is far more powerful than a netbook. It is has an Intel Core i3 (1.33GHz) processor, a 320GB hard drive, and can be configured with up to 4GB RAM
Like most notebooks of this size and class, the Edge doesn’t come with an optical drive. Users will instead have to buy an optional external optical drive.
Also, the Edge has several features to give users peace of mind when using it on the move. It has a spill-resistant keyboard, an active protection system that parks the hard drive’s head to prevent damage during falls and comes preloaded with data recovery software.
Other features include HDMI output, 4-in-1 card reader and webcam.
The ThinkPad Edge 11 will be available in early December. The price for a basic model is expected to start from RM1,899. — CHONG JINN XIUNG
