KUALA LUMPUR: Akamai Technologies Inc, the leading provider of cloud optimisation services, has appointed Philip Chua as its country manager for Malaysia and Singapore.

It said that Chua in his new role is responsible for driving business growth and building the company brand in both markets.

He will also be responsible for expanding Akamai’s client base in Malaysia and Singapore, building on the current portfolio that includes Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines, Astro All Asia Networks plc, Media Prima, Standard Chartered Bank, Cathay Pacific Airlines and ESPN Star Sports.

“Akamai sees Malaysia as among the top three markets in South-East Asia, with room for growth. Singapore, as the region’s leading media and information technology business hub, continues to be an important market for the company,” said Philip.

“I am excited about driving Akamai’s business in these markets because we are seeing most organisations enter a post-recession recovery stage as they embrace key IT innovations such as cloud computing and the adoption of online high-definition video,” he added.

Philip was most recently managing director of Asia South for LexisNexis, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions.

He was also general manager (software) for South Asia at Hewlett-Packard Co and country manager for Computer Associates in Singapore. — Bernama
