iPad coming closer to Malaysian shores

PETALING JAYA: News reports say that Apple’s iPad tablet computer is finally going on sale outside the United States this week.

The international debut of the much anticipated device was delayed by a month due to heavy US demand. It’ll be in stores in Australia, Britain, Japan and other countries in days.

It was reported by AFP that Apple plans to bring the iPad to nearby Singapore in July. Hong Kong, New Zealand and several more countries will also get it about the same time.

One million iPads were sold in the first 28 days after its launch in the United States — less than half the time it took to sell the same number of iPhones.

There are more than 5,000 applications developed for the iPad, in addition to 200,000 existing programs for the iPhone or iPod Touch, most of which will run on the iPad.
