THE Hewlett-Packard Co has introduced a new large-format printer, the Designjet L25500. Available in 42in and 60in widths, it is designed for use in small- and medium-sized printshops and photo labs. HP Malaysia imaging and printing group country general manager Bernard Chiang said the L25500’s unique ability to produce indoor and outdoor signages makes it a versatile device that can even print wallpapers for interior decor.

He said retail outlets, restaurants and clubs could use such prints to decorate the exterior of the building, as well as the interior. The large graphics can be easily applied to walls in less time than it takes to paint a room.

According to HP, the printer uses “latex ink” to produce odourless prints. “Another selling point is that it prints on a variety of mediums, including polyester fabric, wallpaper, and self-adhesive vinyl,” added Chiang.

HP claims that outdoor signages produced on the L25500 are scratch, smudge and water resistant; making them durable enough to used for up to three years if unlaminated, and up to five years if laminated.

The L25500 is also touted as a low-maintenance device that has easy to replace printheads and a fully-automated printhead testing and maintenance system.

It is priced at RM118,000 for the 42in version and RM138,000 for the 60in model.
