PETALING JAYA: DiGi Telecommunications has announced its much awaited iPhone postpaid plans.

To get your hands on an iPhone, you will have to sign up for one of its three iDiGi postpaid plans. The three plans are iDigi 88, iDiGi 138 and iDiGi 238.

For the iDiGi 88 plan, users have to pay a monthly fee of RM88. They can then purchase the iPhone 3GS 32GB for RM1,990 or the iPhone 3GS 16GB for RM1,590. Alternatively, users can go for the iPhone 3G 8GB for RM1,190.

If you go for the iDiGi 138 plan, users have to pay a monthly fee of RM138. They can get the iPhone 3GS 32GB for RM1,590 or the iPhone 3GS 16GB for RM1,090 or the iPhone 3G 8GB for RM490.

If users pick the iDiGi 238, they have to pay a monthly fee of RM238 and get the iPhone 3G 8GB for free. Alternatively, they can go for the iPhone 3GS 32GB for RM890 or the iPhone 3GS 16GB for RM390.

All postpaid plans include free access to DiGi’s WiFi hotspots and customers are tied to a 24-month contract.

Eye catching

Although late to the race, DiGi’s iPhone postpaid plans look to be the more attractive offering in the market.

The postpaid plans generally offer double the amount of free SMS, MMS and data compared to a similar plan from Maxis.

DiGi’s cheapest postpaid plan, iDiGi 88 is RM12 cheaper than the Maxis iValue 1. iDiGi 88 comes with 200 free SMS, 20 free MMS and 1GB of data which is double that of iValue 100.

Also, should the subscriber exceed 1GB data, there will be no additional charges under the DiGi postpaid plan. However, the connection will be switched from 3G to the slower EDGE network.

Subscribers of iValue plan, on the other hand, will incur an additional charge of 1 sen for every kilobyte downloaded once they exceed their data cap of 500MB but their connection speed will not be throttled.

Prices for the iPhone models vary depending on the plan. The iValue 1 plan has the lowest iPhone prices as each model generally costs RM200 cheaper than DiGi’s offering.

For the rest of the plans, the prices for the iPhone 3GS models vary slightly.

The iPhone will be available at 28 DiGi centres and DiGi specialised stores nationwide from April 3 onwards.
