Annual charity fundraising event Awesome Games Done Quick got underway on Jan 7 and its schedule of classics old and new made an immediate impact on Twitch TV's most-watched gaming streams.

Toppling PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds from the top of Twitch TV's featured games list have been a succession of titles conquered by the fast-fingered participants of Awesome Games Done Quick.

Starting with PlayStation 4 remasters of the first three Crash Bandicoot games, originally released in the 1990s, Awesome Games Done Quick has been ripping through its roster of challenges, from Contra to Donkey Kong Country and even epic fantasy adventure The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Participants attempt to complete part or all of a game with blistering speed, as viewers donate to The Prevent Cancer Foundation through AGDQ's website and affect how speed runs play out by bidding in favour of specific challenges and purchase entries to prize sweepstakes.

Halo 5: Guardians on Legendary difficulty, each and every stunt and activity in Burnout Paradise extra Big Surf Island, completing two different Castlevania games in a row, and bossing two entries to the Metal Gear Solid franchise are among January 9's proposed charitable speed runs.

The US-based event runs until Jan 14 and includes attempts to rush a vast range of titles, concluding with a sub-four hour attempt at completing the storyline from one of 2017's most highly praised releases, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

January 2017's AGDQ raised a record high of US$2.2mil (RM8.83mil), while mid-year event Summer Games Done Quick made it to a second-placed US$1.79mil (RM7.18mil).
