KUCHING: The Sarawak President’s Cup squad will be reshuffled when they play Malacca at home on Feb 17.
Coach Shamsurin Abdul Rahman said the reshuffle
was unavoidable after three
of his players sustained injuries during their match against Pahang on Thursday.
“They might not fully recover in time for the match against Malacca so I have a plan to reshuffle the team,” he said.
Despite that, the absence of the three players does not
worry Shamsurin as he has several other players who are equally good.
Nevertheless, he hoped
that the players would make
full use of homeground
advantage to collect all three points.
Sarawak returned home with only one point after their scoreless draw against Pahang at Stadium Darulmakmur, Kuantan last Thursday.
“It was a good start for us as I also observed some improvement in the team.
“I hope we can improve some more and win matches,” said Shamsurin.
He said Sarawak deserved to bring home full points
from Kuantan but unfortunately, they wasted four golden chances.
“Two tries hit the crossbar and another two in front of the goalmouth were not converted,” he said.
The former Malaysia and Sarawak striker said his players, particularly the new ones, were a little bit nervous.
Still he hoped local fans would come to the stadium to support the team.
