Iran rule Asian indoor hockey again

IPOH: Iran continued their domination of indoor hockey in Asia by winning the Asia Cup for the third straight year.

Yesterday they defeated Malaysia A (represented by Sapura) 3-2 in the final at the Indra Mulia Indoor Stadium here.

However, the women’s team brought back the cheers when they beat Kazakhstan 3-1 in the final.

In the men’s final, Iran raced to a 2-0 lead through goals by Masoud Bohlouli (1st minute) and Javad Shabani (6th).

Mohamed Redza Maadun and S. Kuhan made it 2-2 for Malaysia in the ninth and 23rd minutes but Mohamed Mehdi’s 32nd minute strike sealed the win for Iran.

In the women’s final, Malaysia’s scorers were Nor Saliza and A. Kanagi (two goals) while Vera Domashneva replied for Kazakhstan.
