ASCOTT Malaysia recently celebrated a proud milestone as 50 of its associates graduated under the Academy in Industry (ADI) programme — an initiative by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) in collaboration with the School of Professional and Continuing Education, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTMSpace).

This achievement makes Ascott Malaysia the first lodging organisation in the country to enrol and graduate its employees under the ADI programme — a testament to Ascott’s leadership in elevating industry standards and investing in its people.

Under the visionary guidance of Ascott Malaysia’s academic director Anita Selvaraju, this pioneering batch joined over 500 graduates nationwide, marking a defining moment in Malaysia’s mission to cultivate industry-ready talent.

“When you see the pride and sense of accomplishment on their faces as they walk up to receive their scrolls, you realise you’ve done more than just provide an education — you’ve added real value to their lives,” said Anita.

“For some, wearing a graduation robe once felt out of reach, and their look of disbelief is a powerful reminder that at Ascott Malaysia, dreams do come true.”

One of its graduates — Mimi Jane Ronney, who also received the Best Student award, said joining the programme has given her a deeper understanding of the company and its values.

“It’s not just about work, but about learning, growing, and finding purpose in what we do. This experience has truly inspired me to keep improving and continue my journey of growth,” she added.

In further strengthening its commitment to professional education, Ascott Malaysia has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UTMSpace to jointly develop a Double Diploma programme.

This initiative aims to ensure that future graduates are not only academically certified but also fully equipped with real-world industry skills, bridging the gap between education and employability.

The collaboration carries special significance, as Ascott Malaysia’s country general manager Mondi Mecja, is a fellow of UTMSpace, further deepening the shared vision between both institutions in fostering continuous learning and excellence.

The ADI programme embodies Ascott’s enduring belief that education transforms lives and empowers individuals to achieve their highest potential.

Many of these graduates represent stories of perseverance, determination and opportunity — proof that learning has no boundaries.
