KOTA KINABALU: UDA Holdings Bhd will provide expertise, resources and input for North Borneo University College (NBUC) students following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both parties.
With the signing of this MoU, there would be new opportunities for students to gain knowledge, training, internship and possible employment with UDA Holdings after graduation.
UDA Holdings Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Salem Kailany said UDA can now provide the necessary guidance, industry training, and other on the job networking opportunities to students.
“Strategic collaborations between higher learning institutions and industry players are a growing trend right now, whereby both parties benefit from such partnerships,” he said prior to the signing of the MoU at the college campus at the 1Borneo Hypermall building near here.
He said with decades of experience, UDA would be able to provide input for students on the various fields of studies including property development, hospitality and facilities management.
Mohd Salem said partnerships such as these are in line with their mission to focus on human capital development, strengthening marketability of graduates and fulfilling the needs of the various industries in the country.
North Borneo University College vice chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Azimuddin Bahari said they were applying for university status and research works were one of the many requirements to fulfil.
“This is also why we are working with UDA on this MoU,” he said.
UDA Holdings, previously known as The Urban Development Authority, was established in 1971 and is now a government-linked company under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry.
One of its current focuses is human capital development and creating resilient, productive and quality graduates that can fit the needs of industries in the country.
