HAILED as a capable mid-range smartphone, the vivo V27, which launched last month and now available for purchase, is making waves with the amazing, natural looking pictures it captures.
Together with its exclusive colour-changing design and its sleek curved screen that is usually seen on flagship ranges, this model stands out for the segment with what some people say rivals standout brands in terms of photography.
With its exclusive Aura Light lighting system, the Sony IMX766V sensor, its Portrait Mode software and image stabilisers that combine both physical optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic optical stabilisation (EIS), subjects in the resulting pictures look clearer and more vivid, even during low light.
Masterful portraits
The vivo V27 utilises several components to ensure each shot is exceptional with accurate colours and clear details, thanks to its four cameras: the rear, a 50MP OIS Ultra-Sensing primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera, while the front is a 50MP Eye AF selfie camera.
These are then enhanced by the V27’s Aura Light feature, which is vivo's exclusive technology that
produces a balanced, softer and more averaged out lighting effect using its ring-shaped back light.
The 50MP OIS main camera is fitted with an IMX766V sensor, which imparts intelligent features like Night Mode and Scene Detection, and has a combined stabilisers of the OIS and EIS for better picture quality.

When used with the smartphone’s own Portrait Mode algorithm, the resulting shots have enhanced facial beauty and even bokeh effects.
All these come together with the vivo V27 each time photos are taken for picture-perfect portraits in any lighting condition, even during dark night scenes.
The V27 also offers real-time extreme night vision, which is said to pierce through the deepest darkness using its preview, before shooting the scene using its Night Mode.
That in itself gives a good look at what is available but these can be tweaked according to preferences before taking the shot.

Exquisite chameleon design
Another outstanding feature that sets the vivo V27 apart from other mid-range brands is its stylish design.
Firstly its curved display and sleek body design resembles other high-end Android devices and represents a new addition to the V series.
Although large for its size, the phone sits comfortably in most hands and measures 164.1 by 74.8 by 7.36mm, weighing at 180g.
The ultra-thin grip of 7.36mm is the thinnest 3D curved screen in vivo smartphone history while the 60° curved edges provide a firm grip.
Behind, is the pièce de résistance for its Emerald Green model, which has a photochromic glass that changes colour from a light to a deeper hue when the phone is exposed to UV light. Other available normal fixed colours are Noble Black or Flowing Gold.
The bezels for the V27 are thin, which imparts a more premium look to the unit. It also gives the impression of a larger screen size and undistracted viewing when watching videos on YouTube or Netflix on its Amoled, 164.1 by 74.8mm display with a full HD+ resolution at 120Hz.
V27’s other available normal fixed colours are Noble Black or Flowing Gold.
Powered performance
The vivo V27 is super-fast in its performance, thanks largely to the new flagship-level 4nm chipset that's used on the MediaTek D7200 processor and accounts for lower power consumption and higher battery life.
With regards to that, the model is powered by a 66W FlashCharge super-fast charging battery that juices up to 50% within 19 mins. Its 4,600mAh capacity allows it to power on for more than 12 hours. Long-lasting, the battery can last for four years, give or take.
The unit is kept cool with an ultra large Vapour Chamber Bionic cooling system, which only adds to its overall performance.
For gamers, the V27 offers full-sensory game controls for a non-stop gaming experience, via sight, sound and touch by engaging the Game Boost Mode.

The vivo V27 comes in 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at RM1,999, or 8GB RAM at 256GB storage at RM1799.
