Teach children the value of money and setting savings goals, as a foundation for financial planning
Public Bank launches mobile application for parents and children to have fun with financial planning
PUBLIC BANK has launched a new mobile application – the PB Journey app – to assist parents in inculcating a savings habit in their children and educating them on financial planning.
The newly-launched app focuses on children and parents as the bank prioritises teaching the younger generation about managing wealth.
It provides opportunities for more interaction between parents and their children during the National Recovery Phase.
The PB Journey app comprises two modules: Pocket Money and Goal Setting.
These modules provide interactive learning between parents and children on the value of money as well as achieving their savings goal.
Parents and children can create a task under the Pocket Money module whereby the children will be rewarded with pocket money as soon as they complete the task.
The Goal Setting module allows children to save pocket money and earn interest.
Parents can help their children set their savings goal whereby they can save gradually during a set period to reach their target amount.
Goal’s interest rate is calculated daily and credited monthly with attractive savings interest rates.
With these modules, parents can educate their children on how to manage their pocket money and to start a savings habit from a young age.
Educational videos are made available in the PB Journey app for children to learn financial planning and awareness on the importance of savings, as well as to adopt a savings habit.
To register for the PB Journey app, customers are required to maintain a WISE savings account for their children followed by signing up for mobile banking (PB engage). They can then download the PB Journey app.
The PB Journey app complements the PB Journey Programme which was launched earlier with the purpose of supporting the bank’s customers who are adversely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The PB Journey Programme is designed to assist individual and non-individual customers throughout their journey with the bank – be it students, fresh graduates, families, retirees, entrepreneurs or small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).
The pandemic has accelerated the digitalisation process for most businesses due to the various degrees of lockdown and control measures implemented by the Government.
Consumers have quickly embraced this new norm of conducting their business using the mobile phone, and the bank will continue to enhance the PB Journey app to provide financial access and features, plus seamless user experience to customers.
The PB Journey app is available for download via Apple App Store, Google Play Store and HuaWei AppGallery.
