Helping SMEs get business opportunities

SME Bank aims to provide the country’s SMEs with more than just financial assistance, through events such as SME Bank Xcess and CEDAR.

TO say that it’s been a challenging year for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would be an understatement and fortunately ecosystem players such as SME Bank are taking the lead to pave the way for Malaysia’s smaller companies to gain access to opportunities in these trying times.

Via the annual national level business matching event SME Bank Xcess, which will be held on July 26 this year, SME Bank aims to assist and create opportunities for entrepreneurs in obtaining financing and other related financial and entrepreneurship services.

This includes training and coaching services by its subsidiary, the Centre for Entrepreneur Development and Research Sdn Bhd (CEDAR), business matching and pitching with key anchor companies, product and programme briefings, as well as other forms of services provided by its partners.

In line with current developments and for the first time ever, SME Bank will be hosting this significant event virtually and 3000 SME entrepreneurs are expected to join XCESS 2021.

As a gathering of industry experts, business owners, suppliers and potential partners, Xcess 2021 has four main pillars: the hypermarket, the umbrella programme, the vendor development programme and private equity.

The main thrust of the event is to provide value-added services beyond financing to help SMEs upscale their businesses via a national platform, which will also enable them to source for partners, collaborators and potential buyers and suppliers, as well as direct opportunities to obtain alternative financing or entry into development programmes.

Via its virtual event platform, Xcess 2021 will have live streaming and an event feed for its key conference; interactive live sessions; specific digital ‘rooms’ for business matching, demo and breakout sessions; engagement and networking; virtual lounges for private one-on-one meets; virtual booths for partners and exhibitors, as well as other interactive elements such as real-time polls and quizzes.

SMEs can not only gain insights and tips on how to navigate business challenges during the pandemic through knowledge sharing by renowned speakers and industry experts, but also get the opportunity to pitch their products and services to over 20 anchor companies and tap into one-on-one business clinics with SME Bank’s relationship managers on financing and development opportunities.

There will also be a dedicated event mobile app for smooth integration through a single sign-on and support via a helpdesk, which will operate from 9am to 6pm.
