PARIS (Reuters) -Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro fell just short of a dream return to competitive tennis as she lost to Sloane Stephens at the French Open on Tuesday, little more than a month since declaring she had won her battle with cancer.

The 32-year-old was two points from victory in the second set but eventually went down 3-6 7-6(4) 6-4.
