KUALA LUMPUR: The ALYA Malaysian Open has lost its sole marquee name after top seed and defending champion Elina Svitolina withdrew with an Achilles injury.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian is the WTA Tour’s form player, having won the Taiwan Open last month, and arrived here fresh from winning the Dubai Tennis Championships – her biggest career title – last week.
