KUALA LUMPUR: Ashaari Zainal created history of sorts in the Malaysian Open tennis championship when he beat Enrico Becuzzi of Italy 6-0, 6-2 to reach the second round of the men’s singles qualifying tournament at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
Ashaari is the first Malaysian to beat a foreign player in the Malaysian Open, which is part of the ATP circuit.
