PETALING JAYA: It was national swimmer Magdelene Lau’s maiden competition in an open water event but it did not stop her from securing a silver medal of the inaugural SEA Open Water Swimming Championships at the Putrajaya Lake.
Competing in the girls’ 16-17 category, the Sarawakian completed the 5km race in 1’03:48 behind winner Catherine Sherratt of Thailand who clocked 1’03:33. The bronze went to Singapore’s Ashley Ng (1’04:18).
