Alicia dreams of SEA Games show after Malaysian Open success

KUALA LUMPUR: Alicia Li Ann Soosai (pic) is already dreaming of making her debut in the SEA Games.

The Johor lass created a splash in the pool when she picked up three gold medals at the Malaysian Open last week.

The 15-year-old was unbeatable in the 50m, 100m, 200m breaststroke events and won a bronze in the 400m individual medley at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil.

Her golden outing was a repeat of her haul at the Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Ipoh last year.

Her standout performance has put her in a good position to earn a ticket to the Manila Games in November.

“I’m very satisfied with the three golds as I didn’t win anything at last year’s Malaysian Open. My timings were also very good as I achieved my personal bests,” said Alicia.

“And it couldn’t have come at a better time because right now I’m gunning for the SEA Games. Every time I hit the pool, I have the Games on my mind.

“I’m continuously training everyday because swimming at the Games is something I wanted to do for a very long time.”
