PETALING JAYA: Welson Sim has raised hopes of becoming the first Malaysian to dip under the A qualifying time for the Olympic after an eye-catching performance at the FINA Swimming World Cup leg in Doha.

The 18-year-old swam against a strong field in the men’s 400m freestyle and broke the national record – twice.
