Eain Yow books Malaysia’s first squash Olympic ticket with Asian Games gold

PETALING JAYA: Ng Eain Yow has become the first squash player to book his Olympic Games ticket after successfully defending his Asian Games gold medal in Nagoya on Sunday (Sept 27).

The Malaysian lived up to his top seed billing to claim his second Asiad crown after defeating second seed Abhay Singh of India 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in 40 minutes in the final at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is the first continental Games to offer an Olympic qualification slot as Eain Yow secures his name in the 16-player draw in Los Angeles.

Eain Yow’s win in the individual event also gifted Malaysia its fifth gold medal in Japan.
