Eain Yow falls to Cardenas in Motor City Open semi-finals

PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ng Eain Yow was knocked out of the Motor City Open semi-finals after falling to Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas in straight sets on Friday (Feb 7).

World No. 12 Eain Yow was stunned by No. 18 Cardenas as the Mexican barely put a foot wrong, winning 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Detroit, Michigan.

Cardenas’ win has now tied their head-to-head score at three wins each, with the Mexican No. 1 player winning the previous two encounters last year.

Eain Yow’s last final appearance was at the Ace Malaysia Cup last November, which he won, and made it to the Singapore Open semi-finals after that.

The 27-year-old will compete in the Texas Open next on Feb 20.
