KUALA LUMPUR: National No. 2 Ivan Yuen (pic) clinched his first title of the season after topping the CNS International Squash Championships.
The top seed had no problem seeing off local second seed Tayyab Aslam 11-6,11-9,6-11,11-9 at the Pakistan Navy Squash Centre in Karachi yesterday.
It was also the 29-year-old Ivan’s fifth win over the 23-year-old Tayyab in six meetings.
World No. 48 Ivan started the year on the wrong foot after being shown the exit in the first round of the JP Morgan Tournament of Champions by Spaniard Iker Bernabeu last month.
Ivan’s win will certainly be a morale booster ahead of the Asian Team Championships in Bukit Jalil from March 25-29.
