It’s a straightforward day for title contenders


PETALING JAYA: Title contenders Harith Danial Jefri and C. Ameeshenraj marched into the fourth round of the British Junior Open in Birmingham.

The 13-year-old Harith overcame Japan’s Yujin Ikeda 11-6,11-6,11-6 in the Under-15 third round yesterday.

Teammate Tay Jun Qian however failed to advance when he fell to Pakistan’s Mohd Ammad 4-11,10-12,8-11. In the Under-17 event, Ameeshenraj continued his strong run when he took out France’s Laszlo Godde 11-3,11-7,14-12.

Ameeshenraj won the Under-15 title last year.
