Bad day: Nicol David lost to Nour El Tayeb 7-11, 12-14, 9-11 in the Saudi Women’s Masters quarter-finals in Riyadh yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 6 Nicol David failed to secure a good start to the new season after crashing out in the quarter-finals of the Saudi Women’s Masters in Riyadh.

The fifth-seeded Malaysian, playing in her first tournament of the year, was stunned 7-11, 12-14, 9-11 by 11th seed Nour El Tayeb of Egypt on Wednesday.
