The women, who twice finished third in 2010 and 2012, were on fire as they brushed aside South Korea 3-0 on Wednesday.
National No. 3 Delia Arnold got the ball rolling with an 11-3, 11-8, 11-9 win over Yang Yeon-soo.
World No. 7 Low Wee Wern and reigning British Open champion Nicol David then completed the task with similar wins over Park Eun-ok and Song Sun-mi respectively.
Wee Wern faced early resistance from the Korean No. 2 but held on to win 11-9, 11-7, 11-3 while Nicol was barely troubled in her 11-5, 11-4, 11-1 romp.
“It was really important to get out there and start well. It was a good win for me and the team are looking good,” said Delia.
“A 3-0 win is good because I wasn’t made to play too hard. Overall, I played a good game, keeping the ball away from my opponent and taking it early and it worked well.”
The experienced men’s team were also equal to the challenge as they swept Sri Lanka aside 3-0 in a bid to regain the title they last won in 2008.
National No. 3 Ivan Yuen went up first and scored a comprehensive 11-7, 11-4, 11-7 win over Shamil Wakeel before Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan sealed victory by beating Ravindu Laksiri 11-6, 11-3, 11-6.
Veteran Ong Beng Hee completed the rout by beating Dilshan Gunawardane 11-8, 11-7, 11-8.
Today, the third-seeded men will face Iraq and Japan in Pool C while the women will only play one match in Pool A – against Japan.
