Sharp-shooter Alia sizzles as she equals world record in Selangor meet


Winning smile: Alia continues to prove that she is one of the best in the country by equaling the world record mark in the women's 25m pistol event at the Selangor Shooting Championships.

PETALING JAYA: National shooter Alia Sazana Azahari has equaled the world record in the 25m women’s pistol event at the Selangor Shooting Championship today (May 18).

Alia shot a total of 42 in the final round at the National Shooting Range in Subang, equalling the world record set by South Korean shooter Kim Yeji at the World Cup in Baku last week.

Yeji had broken the record of 41 set by compatriot Yang Jiin just days before at the tournament.

Alia’s score gave her the gold medal win for Melaka, ahead of Dina Batrisya Adi Azhar of Selangor who finished second with a score of 25, followed by Terengganu’s Wan Nur Anissa Wan Nazri in third with 22 points.
