Young shooter set to be future star after sterling show at Olympic qualifiers

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia failed to win any merit quota at the Asian Olympic qualifiers but Gan Chen Jie performed beyond expectations to secure a silver medal in women’s 50m rifle prone in Jakarta yesterday.

Unfortunately, the 50m rifle prone is a non-Olympic event but that should not take the credit away from the 19-year-old Chen Jie as it was her the best effort in a senior international meet.
