 THE US Open will crown a new champion tomorrow as none of the semi-finalists – Carlos Alcaraz (Spa), Karen Khachanov (Rus), Casper Ruud (Nor) and local hope Frances Tiafoe have tasted a major title before.

Their emergence is the clearest sign of a change of guard in tennis in the absence of Rafael Nadal of Spain, Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Roger Federer of Switzerland.
