WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Former All Blacks flyhalf Dan Carter has made a surprise return to New Zealand domestic rugby after an absence of five years by joining the Auckland Blues.

Carter confirmed he had signed for the team for the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition after his first training session with the side on Thursday.
