PETALING JAYA: National paddler Alice Chang inspired the women’s team to the knockout rounds of the World Team Championships by winning both her matches in the tie against the more fancied Italy in the group stages.

The team needed a win to reach the next round and keep their dreams of qualifying for the Paris Olympics alive after narrowly going down 2-3 to Puerto Rico on Monday and they did just that by overpowering the second best team in group five.
