Aaliyah sets sights on top three ranking before turning 22

PETALING JAYA: Waterskier Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah wants to achieve a major career milestone before 2025.

Aaliyah has set her sights on breaking into the world’s top three before she turns 22 and is hoping to position herself to be in the top five at the World Games, which will be held in Birmingham, United States from July 7-17.

The 19-year-old Aaliyah has just created three new personal bests in the Fluid Summer Showdown at the Lake Grew Polk City, Florida.

However, as an athlete who is resolute in achieving her goal, Aaliyah prioritises her short and long-term goals instead of mini targets.

“My long-term goal is to be at least among the world’s top three before 2025. My next short term goal is to be in the top five in the World Games,” she said.

Aaliyah added that she could try out different tricks and hopes to do her best at the West Palm Beach event in Florida.

“There are always new tricks and techniques for me to experiment along the way. I would be ecstatic if I could create more personal bests.

“So for next weekend in West Palm Beach, I aim to do my best and enjoy the challenge,” she explained.
