PETALING JAYA: Revenge will be the fuel for Johor Jewels when they take on defending champions KL Wildcats in the Netball Super League at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara today.
Johor Jewels, led by captain Pow Mei Foong, did well to qualify for the final round but were defeated by KL Wildcats 47-58 in the inaugural season.
Mei Foong said they were highly motivated to avenge their loss to KL Wildcats last year.
But she admitted that it will not be an easy task.
“It will definitely be a tough match but we’re ready to give KL Wildcats a good fight and hopefully, get our revenge,” she said.
She reminded her teammates that solid teamwork will be needed to accomplish that mission.
“It will be a team effort and we must also lessen our mistakes.”
Johor Jewels are pleased to see they are ranked first, ahead of KL Wildcats and Selangor Angels.
“We’re motivated to push harder after seeing the ranking,” added Mei Foong.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old is optimistic about the development of netball in Malaysia and wishes to see more players participate in the sport.
“Netball does have a bright future here. The NSL is one of my dreams which came true since I started playing the sport in 2002.
“I really hope that more talented players will get involved in this sport as it empowers women,” she added.
