Sharmendran all out to retain SEA Games title at age 30

Difficult moment: R. Sharmendran (right) decided to go for surgery on his right knee in the middle of last year in order to keep alive his hopes of fighting in competitive karate.

PETALING JAYA: The word quit just does not exist in karate exponent R. Sharmendran’s vocabulary.

At the age of 30, Sharmendran will attempt to pull off the audacious feat of winning a third successive gold medal in the men’s kumite below 75kg event at the Vietnam SEA Games next month.
