(Reuters) - Organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics fired the director of the opening ceremony on Thursday, a day before the Games were due to start, after past comments he made about the Holocaust sparked a public outcry.
It was the latest in a series of scandals that have been a headache for organisers and put a sharp focus on Japan, particularly around social issues.
