PETALING JAYA: One year away from the cage took its toll as Agilan Thani lost out tamely on his return to battle in the world of mixed martial arts.
The 25-year-old Sentul boy put up a brave fight against former ONE welterweight world title challenger Tyler McGuire but went down by a unanimous decision after two rounds to the American in the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday.
Agilan admitted that McGuire was the better man even though the Malaysian did show that he has not lost his sting.
“I have to go back and watch my fight with my coach and see what I need to work on. I definitely didn’t feel my best, I felt a bit off here and there and also felt lost in the cage, ” said Agilan.
“I definitely have a lot of option in terms of training but I’m looking to see what’s going to happen with the Covid-19 situation and make my decision from there on.”
A year ago, Agilan scored an exciting split-decision win over Dante Schiro in the One: Mark of Greatness at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.
