Indoor Hockey
Revenge certainly tasted sweet for our women’s team. After winning the bronze in the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, the girls turned the tables on Thailand. They showed great determination and perseverance to come back from a goal down, to hold the defending champions 1-1 in regulation. Penalty shootout practice came in handy, and the girls snatched the gold.
As for the men, they met the expectation of winning gold for the second time. The defending champions were, however, given a scare as Thailand gave them a fierce fight in the final before Malaysia won 3-1 at the LB Centro Mall and Exhibition Centre on Tuesday. Malaysia’s strength usually lies in field hockey, but with this double victory, they have cemented their reputation as indoor hockey specialists in the region.
