KUALA LUMPUR: Finally a place to call home!

National bodybuilder Syarul Azman Mike Mahen received an apartment unit in Bukit Jalil from developer Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd.

The apartment valued at RM228,000 was presented as a corporate social responsibility gesture in recognition of his achievements and contributions to Malaysia.

The fully renovated and furnished 800sq apartment comes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and one covered parking unit.

And it’s all thanks to Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad, Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Aset Kayamas.

The three-time Mr Universe and four-time Mr Asia said that Malaysian athletes should be recognised for their sacrifices and should not be ignored even if their sport is not in the Olympic Games or is not a core sport in the country.

“I can’t thank everyone enough because never in my mind have I thought about a reward like this since representing Malaysia in 2009. I have asked for help before but nothing materialised,” said Syarul yesterday.

“I spoke about my housing problem to the sports minister and also met the Federal Territories minister in February.

“I will move in two weeks’ time,” added Syarul, who will be out to retain the Mr Asia and World title this year.
