Wushu’s new wonder – Zhi Yan takes world championships by storm


PETALING JAYA: A new star is born for Malaysia. Young wushu exponent Tan Zhi Yan (pic) made a clean sweep of all three events he took part in at the World Taijiquan Championships in Burgas, Bulgaria.

In the just concluded world meet, Zhi Yan chalked up 9.50 points to come out tops in the boys’ optional taijiquan event ahead of nearest competitor Chan Jun Kai of Singapore (9.05).
