Athletes aim to strike it right at the Commonwealth Games

High hopes: Mixed doubles pair Shevon Lai Jemie (left) and Goh Soon Huat proved their credentials when they won the German Open last month.

Although it is hard for our up-and-coming national athletes to break out at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in the presence of world class opponents from Australia, England, Scotland and Canada, they will not be short of motivation to rise to the occasion in the scenic Australian city. These aspiring stars will be locking shoulders with our seasoned campaigners such as Lee Chong Wei, Pandelela Rinong, Azizulhasni Awang and Nicol David to help Malaysia improve on their previous haul of 6-7-6 from Glasgow, Scotland, four years ago. Starsport’s LIM TEIK HUAT profiles the five young athletes who have what it takes to make their presence felt for Malaysia in Gold Coast.
