KUALA LUMPUR: A large crowd has begun arriving at the National Stadium here at Bukit Jalil for the closing ceremony of the 9th Asean Para Games.
The number of people arriving at the venue has been rising since the stadium's doors were opened at 4pm on Saturday.
Those in the stadium will be treated to pre-show performances starting at 6.30pm.
The official ceremony is slated to officially kick off at 8.30pm with the arrival of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The ceremony is expected to begin with the usual parade of the athletes of the 11 participating countries, along with cultural performances, speeches from the Games' officials and the declaration that the Games are closed with the extinguishing of the flame of the Games' cauldron.
There is also expected to be a handover ceremony to the Philippines, where the next SEA Games and Asean Para Games will be hosted.
