KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) are seeking an exemption on the goods and services tax (GST) for the national sports associations (NSAs).
OCM secretary Datuk Low Beng Choo said the resolution to seek the GST exemption was made at their annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday.
Said Beng Choo: “The NSAs are facing difficulties securing sponsorships. We hope the Government will consider our request.”
On the preparations for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games from Aug 19-30, Beng Choo said: “Everything is OK. We’ve given a few associations until June 20 to submit the entries by name.
“And we should be able to finalise the draws and schedules for all the sports on July 7.”
