PUTRAJAYA: The RM80m sponsorship target for the SEA Games (Aug 19-31) and Asean Para Games (Sept 17-23) is set to be achieved.
To date, the Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (Masoc) have secured RM68mil.
SCGM Bhd, a thermoform food packaging manufacturer, became the eighth company yesterday to come on board as sponsors. It will contribute RM1mil under the silver sponsor (RM1mil-RM3mil) category.
The Kulai-based company will give cash and in-kind contributions like eco-friendly degradable disposal lunch boxes and cups known as “Benxon” during the two Games.
“With SCGM Bhd’s sponsorship, I’m pleased to announce that we have achieved 85% of the RM80mil target.
“Masoc are working extremely hard to raise the money for the two Games, I’m convinced it’s only a matter of time before the target is met,” said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin after witnessing the signing ceremony between Masoc and SCGM Bhd at the Menara KBS here yesterday.
The other three sponsorship categories are the platinum (RM7.5mil to RM15mil), gold (RM3mil to RM7.5mil) and bronze (up to RM1mil).
Telekom Malaysia, Naza Group, FBT (a Thai apparel company) and Ajinomoto Co have all come under the platinum category. Malaysia Airports Holding Bhd (MAHB) is the only gold sponsor. 100PLUS, Milo and SCGM Bhd are the three silver sponsors.
