Syakilla sends early warning with silver ahead of karate world meet


Malaysia's Syakilla Salni Jefry Krisnan in action in the women's below 61kg final at the World Karate Championships in Bremen on Saturday. She settled for silver after losing 0-1 to Egypt's Giana Lofty.

PETALING JAYA: Syakilla Salni Jefry Krisnan showed she will be a serious contender at the World Karate Championships in Austria from Oct 25-30 after punching her way to a silver in the Karate 1 Premier League Series in Germany.

The 25-year-old Malaysian came close to winning her second Premier League Series title of the year, but was beaten 0-3 by France’s Emilie Thouy in the women’s kumite below 55kg final in Hamburg on Sunday.
