Old hand Schlager still got game in world table tennis


SHAH ALAM: Former world singles champion Werner Schlager showed he’s still a class act despite a lack of preparation for the World Team Table Tennis Championships.

The 43-year-old Schlager, a last-minute replacement for flu-hit Daniel Habesohn, led reigning European champions Austria to an easy 3-0 win over the Czech Republic in their opening men’s Group A match at the Malawati Stadium yesterday.
