SHAH ALAM: Defending champions China hope that history will not repeat itself in Malaysia in the 54th World Team Table Tennis Championships, which begin at the Malawati Stadium on Sunday.

At the 2000 championships at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, China lost the men’s title when they were stunned 3-2 by Sweden in the final. Since then, China have always emerged champions.
