National exponent Shobana Jeyapal on the podium after winning the women
PETALING JAYA: Shobana Jeyapal, a protege of former national coach P. Arivalagan, showed she is a top exponent in the making for Malaysia after bagging the gold medal in the Commonwealth Karate Championships in New Delhi.
The 19-year-old beat India’s P.C. Vanlairuati 2-0 in the final to win the women’s Under-21 kumite below 55kg event in her first overseas assignment.
