KUALA LUMPUR: The Youth and Sports Ministry has slashed the budget by 50% for next year’s Le Tour de Langkawi (LtdL) from March 5-14.
“We used to pledge RM20mil per year for the Tour, but we have decided to pledge half of the amount and save RM10mil for other purposes,” said Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, adding that he had informed Sports Commissioner Ahmad Shapawi Ismail and Human Voyage chief executive officer Datuk Malik Mydin, who is in charge of organising the LtdL next year, about the budget cut.
